SMITA NAGDEV

Born on 21st March, daughter of renowned painter Shri Sachida Nagdev. Learning Sitar as per the 'Guru-Shishya' tradition from the age of four. Her first Guru was Late Shri Vasudeo Rao Ashtewale. She became a 'Gandabandha Shagird' (disciple) of Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan in 1997 who has mentored her since.

Conferred the prestigious title of 'Sur-Mani', Junior fellowship from Ministry of Culture, India. Holds Master's Degrees in Ancient Indian History and Music.

Invited for 'Artist in Residence' Program by the French Government in 2005. Performed and represented India on major stages and music festivals world-wide. Invited for Lecture-Demonstration in many Universities. Has been actively collaborating and performing with various European music groups. Music Direction in 2 Indian plays.
